Catholic solidarity committee in Phu Yen convenes 5th congress

The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) in Phu Yen province held the 5th congress on September 19.

Attending the event were Priest Vice Chairman of the CSVC Paul Nguyễn Hùng and about 115 delegates from the parishes, congregations and Catholics representing over 5,200 Catholic households in the province.

Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Hữu Thế and Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyễn Quốc Hoàn.

The event discussed results of the patriotic movement and the solidarity committee’s activities during the 4th term (2012-2017) as well as outlined plans of activities for the next term.

The one-day congress also elected 55 members to the Catholic Solidarity Committee in the province for the 2017 – 2022 tenure with Priest Antoine Nguyễn Huy Điệp, Head of Song Cau parish nominated as the Committee Chairman.
