The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) reviewed its 2016 activities and approved plans for 2017 at a conference held on February 11.
The conference highlighted participation of Catholics in patriotic emulation movements and social development programs, including a contribution of over VND88 billion to social charities in the locality.
During the conference, Priest Phan Khắc Từ was elected as the new Chairman of the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics in HCMC.
While praising the Catholic Solidarity Committee in HCMC for its practical contributions, Chairman of the city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyễn Hoàng Năng urged the Catholic Solidarity Committee to continue promoting fine traditions of the Vietnam Catholic Church, as well as encouraging Catholic followers to proactively contribute to the successful implementation of socio-economic targets in the city.
