The Committee for solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) in Dak Lak province held the 6th general meeting of Catholics contributing to national construction and defense on June 5-6.
The event saw the participation of 180 delegates representing Catholic followers in the province.
Local guests at the event included Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Quốc Cường, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee H’Yim Kđoh and local authorities’ representatives.
The meeting discussed the Catholic solidarity committee’s activities and results of implementing the social movements during the 2013-2018 tenure.
The event also elected 88 members to the CSCV in the province for the 2018 – 2023 tenure with Priest Antony Vũ Thanh Lịch elected as the committee Chairman. The meeting also selected 11 delegates to attend the upcoming national congress of the CSVC.
According to the meeting report, Catholic followers in the province have proactively engaged in social movements launched by local authorities and contributed over VND 11.3 billion to charity activities in the past five years, as well as presented scholarships and bicycles worth over VND 3.3 billion to disadvantaged pupils with excellent academic results.
Vice Chairwoman H’Yim Kđoh presents certificates of merit to Catholic groups and individuals
On the occasion, local authorities presented certificates of merit to five Catholic groups and 13 individuals for their outstanding contributions in social movements in the 2013-2018 period.
