Catholic solidarity committee in Can Tho holds year-end meeting on social contributions

The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSCV) in Can Tho city held a meeting on January 24 for reviewing the implementation of social movements and its performance in 2017 .

As reported at the conference, in 2017, local Catholics actively participated in social movements launched by local authorities, especially programs for building cultural lifestyles in residential areas and raising fund for the poor. In particular, Rach Suc parish in Binh Thuy ward and the Congregation of Divine Providence in Ninh Kieu ward provided free healthchecks and medicines to poor patients with the total value of VND 500 million. Bo Ot parish in Thot Not ward built charity houses to local people irrespective of religion worth 2.44 billion VND.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the city CSCV Lê Nguyễn Sinh Nhật praised local Catholic followers for their contributions over the past year. He also called on Catholic followers in the city to proactively participate in local movements, contributing to social stability, socio-economic development in the locality.

With these contributions, the city CSCV received certificate of merits from the CSCV and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in the city.
