Catholic people in the central province of Quang Binh have made many contributions in social charities for sustainable development in localities.
Specifically, parishioners of Thanh Hai Catholic Community in Thanh Trach commune of the province’s Bo Trach district have contributed over two billions VND for building and upgrading the inter-village road system in the locality.
Catholic families of Gia Hung parish in Hung Trach commune of Bo Trach district have contributed VND 120 million for the construction of the inter-village bridge in the commune.
Bau Sen Catholic Community in the district’s Phuc Trach commune has presented VND 700 million for building Second Bau Sen Community Center.
The family of Mr. Hoàng Công Sự, a parishioner of Giap Tam parish in Quang Binh’s Ba Don provincial city, has donated VND 220 million for concretizing inter village roads in the commune.
In the record flood occurred on the 19 of October 2020 that submerged many villages in the province, Priest Peter Nguyễn Bình Yên of Trung Hai Parish (in Quang Trach district), Priest Thomas Võ Minh Danh of Bau Sen Catholic Community (Bo Trach district), Priest Paul Nguyễn Minh Sáng of Phu Kinh Parish (Quang Trach district), Priest John Baptist Phạm Quang Long of Na Catholic Community (Bo Trach district), Priest Peter Trần Văn Thành of Tam Toa Parish (Dong Hoi city) and many other local Catholic leaders timely mobilized local Catholic youth for collaborating with rescue teams to help saving people in submerged houses, sending relief supplies to flood victims and overcoming losses and difficulties caused by this flood.
In regard to the environmental protection and climate change adaptation in the province, parishes of Trung Hai and Huong Duong in Quang Trach district, Minh Tien parish and Catholic Communities of Thong Thong and Dong Dung in Ba Don provincial city, and Minh Tien Catholic Community and Minh Cam parish in Tuyen Hoa district, etc have launched action plans with proactive and effective responses from local parishioners.
