Catholic parishes in Tien Giang present over 1000 gift sets to poor people

Kim Son parish located in Tien Giang province’s Chau Thanh district and An Duc parish located in the province’s My Tho city from July 19-27 presented 1100 gift sets to poor people in the district and city.    

In particular, Kim Son parish has contributed 900 gift sets and An Duc parish has offered over 200 gift sets. All support packages, containing rice, noodles, soya sauces, monosodium glutamates, sugar, salts and cooking oils worth, have an estimated value of over 300 million VND in total. 

As reported, these relief supports came as a results of efforts made by Priest Head of Kim Son parish Peter Mai Văn Thượng and Priest Head of An Duc parish Stephen Ngô Văn Tú in successful fund-raisings, and valuable contributions by  philanthropists and parishioners, in order to assist  poor people in communes surrounding the two parishes and neighboring localities, in the context of the social distancing in accordance with the Prime Minister's Directive 16 imposed in Tien Giang province for further preventing spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In visiting and handing over these support packages to poor locals, volunteer members of the two parishes’ pastoral council have strictly observed the Direction of Prime Minister and the 5k message of Covid-19 prevention.
