Catholic general conference on national construction and defense held in Lam Dong

The Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics (CSVC) in Lam Dong province city held the 6th general conference on national construction and defense by local Catholics on October 26.

The event saw the attendance of Priest Acting President cum General Secretary of the CSVC Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh and about 250 delegates representing Catholic followers in the province.

Local guests at the event included Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyễn Trọng Ánh Đông, Chairwoman of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Nguyễn Thị Lệ, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council K’Mak and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Văn Đa.

The one-day congress discussed results of the patriotic movement and the solidarity committee’s activities during the 5th term (2012-2017), as well as outlined plans of activities in the next term.

The event also elected 50 members to the CSCV in the province for the 2017 – 2022 tenure with Priest John Bosco Hoàng Văn Chính reelected as the Committee Chairman.

On the occasion, local authorities presented certificates of merits to six Catholic groups and 24 individuals for their outstanding contributions over the past five years.

Earlier, on October 25, Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Nguyễn Xuân Tiến hosted a warm reception for the visiting delegation led by Priest Acting President cum General Secretary of the CSVC Joseph Trần Xuân Mạnh on occasion of the 6th general conference of the provincial CSVC.
