Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Vietnam holds annual meeting

The 1st annual meeting of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Vietnam was started on April 4 at Thai Binh diocese.

The meeting saw participation of Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, non-resident Special-envoy of the Vatican to Vietnam; Archbishop Chairman of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Vietnam Bùi Văn Đọc, cardinals and bishops from 26 dioceses in Vietnam.

During the first session held on April 5, Archbishop Bùi Văn Đọc delivered the opening speech and Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli conveyed greetings and blessings from Pope Francis.

Sessions held on April 6-8 are expected to focus on discussion of progress of the Catholic Institute, project for establishing a training center for priesthood and cleric life, pastoral care for migrants, the Synod of Bishops and World Meeting of Families 2015, and pastoral issues of dioceses, etc.
