Caodai parish in Kien Giang engages in environmental protection

A ceremony for launching religious models for environmental protection and climate change adaptation for the 2017-2020 tenure was held on June 21 at Huyen Linh Dan Caodai Parish’ oratory under the White Cloth Caodai Church in Kien Giang province’s Rach Gia city.

The event was organized by the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Standing Committee in collaboration with the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment and religious leaders in the locality.

During the event, representatives of the Caodai parish registered to implement contents for environmental protection and climate change adaptation for the 2017-2020 tenure, and representatives of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment guided Caodai followers how to implement these contents in residential areas, including garbage classification and restriction of the use of plastic bags.  

Under a plan issued on March 22, 2017 for building pilot models involved religious participation in environmental protection, other five religious models in the province will be developed by Go Quao Caodai Parish under Tay Ninh Caodai Church, Hoa Hao Buddhist Church’s Executive Board in Kien Luong District, Phat Da Pagoda in Ha Tien Town, Binh Chau-Tan Hiep Catholic Parish, and Hung My Temple under Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association’s Executive Committee in Kien Giang province.
