Ca Mau provincial Party leaders congratulate Khmer people on Sene Dolta festival

Ca Mau provincial authorities paid visits to Khmer pagodas and Salatels in the locality on occasion of Khmer traditional Sene Dolta festival.

During the visits, representatives of the provincial authorities presented gifts and extended best wishes to Khmer people, as well as encouraged Khmer community to promote solidarity and work hard to boost the local socio-economic development.

Sene Dolta is one of important annual festivals of the Khmer community in the Vietnam Southern, often held from the 30th day of the eighth lunar month to the second day of the ninth lunar month each year, which falls on September 30 to October 2, 2016. The festival aims to pay respect and tribute to the parents and ancestors. 

Currently, Khmer Theravada Buddhism in Ca Mau province has about 30,000 followers with seven worshipping establishments and 8 salatels (cultural and communal houses), concentrated mostly in the province’s districts of Dam Doi, Tran Van Thoi, Thoi Binh and U Minh.
