Ca Mau Catholic community celebrates 90th anniversary of establishment

On December 29, Ca Mau Catholic community solemnly held a ceremony for celebrating 90th anniversary (1925-2015) and inaugurating its church in Ca Mau city.

The ceremony was chaired by Cardinal Jean Baptiste Phạm Minh Mẫn and attended by priests and nuns from Can Tho diocese, deaneries of Bac Lieu, Soc Trang, Dai Hai, Tra Long and Vi Thanh and Catholic communities in Ca Mau province. Representatives of local authorities, local religious organizations and about 2,000 followers from Catholic community in the locality also joint the event.

Ca Mau Catholic community was established in 1925 and chose St. Paul as their holy patroness. Currently, the parish is home to about 1,500 Catholic households with approximately 6,000 people located in wards 5, 6 and 7 and two communes of Tan Thanh and An Xuyen and Priest Paul Nguyễn Văn Vinh as Head of the community.
