Buu Ngoc pagoda located in Dong Thanh commune of Tien Giang province’s Go Cong Tay district in collaboration with the commune Vietnam Fatherland Front held a ceremony on October 4 for inaugurating a new rural traffic bridge in the locality.
Present at the event were Most Venerable Thích Trí Hườn, Head of Discernment Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in the province; Most Venerable Thích Giác Tây, Chairman of the VBS executive board in the district, heads of several Buddhist pagodas in the locality and Buddhists from Buu Ngoc pagoda.
Local officials at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Religious Committee Trần Văn Khuê and representatives from the district and commune authorities.
As reported at the ceremony, the new rural bridge was built of reinforced concrete with two meters wide and 30 feet long. The construction cost 240 million VND in which Buddhists and sponsors contributed 200 million VND and the rest was raised by the provincial Red Cross Association.
