Deputy Director of Agriculture and Rural Development Department in Tien Giang province Trịnh Công Minh had a visiting meeting on February 27 with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee in the province at Vinh Trang pagoda located in My Tho city.
The Agriculture and Rural Development Department delegation was welcomed by Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Huệ Minh and members of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee.
Overview of the meeting
During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to environmental protection in Tien Giang province through fish release by Buddhists. In order to ensure a sustainable development environment, the VBS chapter in the province will raise awareness of Buddhist followers on fish releasing and the Agriculture and Rural Development Department will provide aquatic species that are suitable to the river’s ecological conditions and not harmful to indigenous aquatic species.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides have signed a cooperation program on aquatic environmental protection in the province.
