The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Board in Quang Binh province’s Quang Ninh district held on June 13 a program in response of the action month on environmental protection with the theme “Addressing plastic and nylon pollution”.
The event taking place in Quang Xa pagoda located in Tan Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district saw the participation of Senior Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Board Thích Mãn Ngộ, representatives from local authorities and large numbers of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the locality.
As part of the program, participating Buddhist monks, nuns, followers and people from Quang Xa hamlet collected garbage and plastic bags on roads and lanes and did the cleaning in public places in the locality.
Speaking at the event, Senior Venerable Thích Mãn Ngộ called on Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the district to proactively take part in environment protection activities such as discharging of garbage properly and creating green and clean environment by cleaning public and private places and planting trees by each family.
