Buddhists in Dong Thap donate cash, necessities to Covid-19 prevention and control

The Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Dong Thap province’s Chau Thanh district presented on August 13 over 130 million VND in cash and 10 tons of rice, through the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, to people residing severely affected by Covid-19 epidemic in the province’s border areas  

On the same day, Venerable Thích Giác Đàn of Khanh Linh pagoda located in the district’s An Khanh commune visited and donated essential supplies to the public security and militia force working at three Covid-19 quarantine checkpoints in communes of Phu Huu and An Khanh of the district.

From August 4 to August 16, Senior Venerable Thích Thiện Quý, Abbot of Tam Thanh Pagoda located in Tam Nong district’s Phu Cuong commune together with lay Buddhists and other sponsors have offered near 10,000 meals with a total value of 60 million VND to the Covid-19 treatment frontline force in the locality.

Earlier, from July 17 to August 3, Senior Venerable Thích Thiện Quý in coordination an entrepreneur in the district’s An Hoa commune provided 7,000 free meals valued at 150 million VND to the anti-epidemic frontline force working at quarantine checkpoints and concentrated isolation areas in the district.
