The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Can Tho city reviewed its performance 2019 and set out working plans for 2020 at a meeting held on December 23.
The event taking place Phuong Nam Zen monastery pagoda located in Phong Dien district saw the presence of Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Dương Tấn Hiển and members of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee.
As reviewed at the meeting, local Buddhists proactively joint in social and charitable programs for building of rural roads, offering free health check-ups and medicines, and providing supports to the poor and excellent pupils with a total value of over 24.7 billion VND in 2019. In addition, Phuong Nam Zen monastery and Phuoc An pagoda in Binh Thuy ward have provided free health check-ups and medicines to over 85,650 patients with the total cost of 5.52 billion VND.
