A Buddhist group from Ba Ria – Vung Tau province paid on November 10 a charity visit to victims of Typhoon Damrey in the Vietnam central province of Ha Tinh.
During the visit, the delegation organized by Buddhist temples of Ngoc Duc, Ngoc Thanh, Tri Nghiem, Lieu Quan, Phat Quang and Thien Hoa presented 500 relief packets to locals from communes of Ky Phong, Ky Bac and Ky Trinh in the province’s Ky Anh district, each packet containing rice, clothes, blankets, other necessities and some cash, worth VND 500,000 in total. In addition, 200 gift sets valued at VND 30 million were also handed over to local children
The charity program, worth VND 280 million in total, was funded by Buddhists from the Buddhist temples, as a result of a fund-raising launched by the provincial red cross.
Meanwhile, on November 10-12, a delegation from the Buddhist social charity board in Ba Ria Vung Tau led by Nun Thích nữ Tiến Liên has visited and distributed 2,350 relief boxes, each containing rice, noodle and cash worth VND 300,000 to victims of Typhoon Damrey in central provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Phu Yen. The charity program worth over VND 700 million was launched by the Buddhist charity board in the province.
