The Management Council of the Vietnam Institute for Buddhist Studies in Ho Chi Minh City held on June 7 a solemn ceremony for opening the summer retreat course 2020 (B.E. 2564).
The ceremony taking place at the institute‘s branch located in Binh Chanh district’s Le Minh Xuan commune saw the presence of Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) cum Director of the Vietnam Buddhist studies institute Thích Trí Quảng, dignitaries of the management council and teaching board, over 800 Buddhist monks and nuns, and a large number of lay Buddhists.
This year, the Buddhist studies institute’s management council chose Thanh Tam pagoda also located in the district as the retreat venue for the 562 nuns of the summer retreat course.
