Buddhist School in Quang Nam opens new school year

The new academic year of the Buddhist College in the central province of Quang Nam was kicked off at a solemn ceremony held on October 6.  

The ceremony saw the presence of Most Senior Venerable Thích Thiện Duyên, Deputy Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Discernment Council cum Head of the VBS’s discernment committee in Quang Nam; Most Venerable Thích Hải Ấn, Vice Chairman of the VBS Central Committee for Buddhist Education cum Rector of the Buddhist Institute in Hue; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Thành, Chairman of the VBS Executive Committee in Quang Nam; representatives of local authorities; and Buddhist dignitaries in the province and the Buddhist college.

During the ceremony, Senior Venerable Thích Phước Minh, Vice Chairman of the VBS executive committee in Quang Nam cum Head of the Buddhist school bit the drum for formally opening the new school year for about 100 student monks, nuns and lay Buddhists of the 8th Buddhist Intermediate Course and the 1st Buddhist preliminary course from Quang Nam and neighboring provinces.

On the occasion, the Buddhist school awarded graduation certificates to 76 monks and nuns of the 7th Buddhist Intermediate Course (2017-2020).
