Buddhist Sangha in HCMC holds year-end meeting 2016

The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in Ho Chi Minh City reviewed its performance 2016 at a meeting held on January 11 in Vietnam National Temple in the city’s District 10.

The meeting saw the attendance of Most Venerable VBS’s Vice Patriarch Thích Đức Nghiệp, Most Venerable VBS’s Vice Patriarch cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in HCMC Thích Trí Quảng, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries representing the Buddhist municipal executive committee in the city and the Buddhist executive board of the city’s 24 districts.

Representatives from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the municipal religious committee were amongst guests of the event.

As reported at the meeting, the Executive Committee of the VBS’s Chapter in Ho Chi Minh City has recorded remarkable results in Buddhist and social activities for the past year. In 2016, the Buddhist executive committee in the city raised approximately VND 450 billion for social, charitable activities supporting the poor, the lonely elderly, orphans, and people under special difficulties in the city.
