Ba Tri district Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Board in Ben Tre province solemnly held on July 20 the 6th Buddhist congress for 2016-2021 tenure at Long Duc Pagoda.
Attending the event were Most Venerable Chairman of Ben Tre provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Nhật Tấn, Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns from the district’s pagodas, and a large number of followers in the locality.
Local guests at the congress included representatives of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and local authorities.
As reported at the congress, the district VBS Executive Board has recorded many good results in social, religious activities for the 2012-2016 tenure, and Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the district have contributed VND 15 billion to social and charitable activities, including supports to the poor and construction of bridges and charitable houses.
The congress elected 15 members of the new-term VBS Executive Board of Ba Tri district for 2016-2021 tenure with Venerable Thích Minh Hoàng as Chairman of the Board.
On the occasion, Ba Tri district People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to one groups and five individuals from the district’s VBS Executive Board for their outstanding contributions to the social, charitable activities in the last tenure.
