Buddhist pagoda in Ben Tre to restore its sanctum

Van Duc pagoda located in Hung Khanh Trung B commune of Ben Tre province’s Cho Lach district solemnly held on November 1 the stone-laying ceremony for restoring its main Buddhist temple.  

Present at the event included Most Venerable Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Discernment Council Thích Giác Minh, Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Board in Cho Lach district Thích Giác Tạng, Senior Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Board in Mo Cay Nam district, Venerable Nun Vice Chairwoman of the VBS’s Executive Board in Cho Lach Thích nữ Như Phước, representatives of local authorities and heads of Buddhist places in Cho Lach and neighboring districts.

Van Duc pagoda was founded in 1955 and has seriously deteriorated after 65 years of existence. For meeting current needs of Buddhist practices in the locality, Venerable Thích Quảng Thanh has applied for construction permit and called on Buddhists in Ben Tre and neighboring provinces to make contributions for restoring the Three-Jewel worshiping temple of the pagoda.
