Long Duc Buddhist monastery located in Phuoc Thanh commune, My Tho city formally inaugurated its new monastery at a ceremony held on October 28.
The event saw the participation of Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Chapter in Tien Giang province Thích Giác Nhân, Senior Venerable Head of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha executive board in the city Thích Quảng Lộc, and large numbers of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in localities.
Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Văn Khuê and local authorities’ representatives.
As reported at the event, the original Long Duc monastery was built in 1969 by semi-solid materials and it has undergone several restorations and repairs. The reconstruction of the monastery was started in late 2017 on area of 303m2 and completed at the construction cost of over three billion VND.
