Buddhist leader visits grave of General Võ Nguyên Giáp

On occasion of attending the third Buddhist congress of Quang Binh provincial the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn led a delegation to visit and offer incense at the grave of General Võ Nguyên Giáp in Quang Binh province’s Quảng Trach district.

Joining the delegation included Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Pháp, Most Venerable Head of the Cultural Affairs Committee Thích Trung Hậu and Buddhist digntaries from the VBS Executive Council and Quang Binh provincial VBS Executive Committee.

General Võ Nguyên Giáp, who was a former Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Defence Minister and Commander in Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army, was born on August 25, 1911 , in Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, the central province of Quang Binh. He died on October 4, 2013 and was buried in Vung Chua – Dao Yen (Swallow Island) in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province.
