The Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Hue city under the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) held on December 27 a solemn ceremony to celebrate its 20th founding anniversary.
Attending the event included Most Venerable President of the VBS's Central Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Most Venerable Director of the Buddhist Institute Thích Hải Ấn, representatives from local authorities, and large numbers of dignitaries, monks and nuns who are students and alumnus of the institute.

Being formally established in 1997 as a senior Buddhist school, the school was renamed as the Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Hue city on Jun 23.

Over the past 20 years, nine training courses with more than 1,000 Buddhist students have been successfully held by the institute.
On the occasion, two collectives and eight individuals with outstanding contributions to the educational training of the institute were awarded certificates of merit by the VBS.
