The Institute of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Hanoi held on March 31 a tree planting and prayers for peace as part of activities celebrating the Birthday of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara.
On the occasion, the Buddhist dignitaries and students of the Buddhist school planted over 1,000 trees inside the Buddhist institute.
The tree plantation by the Buddhist institute was also as an response to the appeal by Late President Ho Chi Minh for planting trees in the every spring and the Prime Minister’s initiative for planning one billion trees in the next five years, contributing to environmental protection and climate change adaptation, as well as the creation of green spaces within the Buddhist school.

According to Most Venerable Thích Thanh Quyết, Vice President of the VBS Central Executive Council cum Rector of the Buddhist institute, green trees contribute to not only sustain life on earth but also strengthen the spiritual life, and living in green places makes you feel better and kinder towards other living beings.
