The executive committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Kon Tum province held on January 17 the year-end meeting to review its Buddhist affairs in 2018 and approve working plans for 2019.
The event taking place in Hue Chieu pagoda saw the participation of Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS’s executive committee Thích Quảng Xả, members of the provincial VBS’s executive committee and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the locality.
Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Phan Thái and representatives from the local authorities also participated in the event.

According to the meeting report, over the past year, the provincial VBS’s executive committee in the province has recorded good achievements in Buddhist affairs including the organization of Vesak Day for Buddhists who are ethnic minority people, the summer retreat course for 54 monks and nuns, the organization of youth training for 165 leading youth and 450 young members of the Buddhist Family association, etc. In addition, local Buddhist dignitaries and followers also contributed over VND 11 billion for supporting the poor people, presenting scholarships to poor and excellent students in the province, etc.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Phan Thái highly acknowledged practical contributions made by Buddhist dignitaries and followers over the past year. He expressed hope that they would continue proactively joining with local authorities for socio-economic development in the locality.
