Buddhist chapter in Dong Thap joins local authorities for rehabilitation of offenders

A model for rehabilitation of offenders entitled “Good deed for tomorrow” was officially launched at a ceremony held on May 9 at Tam Thanh pagoda in Dong Thap province’s Tam Nong district.

The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board in Dong Thanh province’s Tam Nong district in collaboration with the provincial and district-level Police, the district Fatherland Front Committee, and other social political organizations.

The model attracted 35 young people out of 100 youth who violated the law or faced risk of violating law from the communes of Phu Cuong, Tan Cong Sinh, Hoa Binh and Tram Chim town. Initially, members of the model will attend a picnic and learn about harms of drug addiction and socials evils held monthly.

The model aimed to raise awareness of young people about harms of drugs and social evils and educate them to become good citizens with healthy lifestyles, moral values and virtues, contributing to protecting social order, security, safety traffic and preventing social evils in the locality.
