The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Chapter in Dong Nai province held on October 16 a ceremony to celebrate the VBS’s 35th anniversary at Tinh Hoi Pagoda in the province’s Bien Hoa city.
The event saw the attendance of Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Head of the VBS’s Clergy Affairs Thích Thiện Pháp, Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Giác Toàn, Most Venerable Chairman of Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Quảng Hiền, Buddhist monks and nuns from the Buddhist Chapter in the province’s districts and Bien Hoa city, and about 4,500 Buddhist followers from localities.
Attending the ceremony also included Deputy Director of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs’ Department for Southern Affairs Trà Quang Thanh, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Hòa Hiệp and Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyễn Văn Dũng.
On this occasion, the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee presented 600 gift sets to the poor and 40 bicycles to pupils from poor families, with a total cost of nearly VND 300 million.
