During the Hue festival 2018 taking place from April 27 to May 2, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in Thua Thien Hue province organized on May 1 a music and Buddhist dance show with the theme “Shining faith”.
The show also included the combination of over 30,000 floating lotus flower paper lanterns on Huong River and rituals to pray for peace at Da Vien Bridge Park.
The VBS’s Chapter in the province also joint numerous cultural events to celebrate 25 years of the Hue ancient citadel relic complex recognised by the UNESCO as a world cultural heritage and the 15th anniversary of the Hue royal court music classified as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
In addition, an exhibition entitled "Buddhist Cultural Heritage" taking place at Lieu Quan Buddhism Culture Centre was concluded on May 2. The exhibition introduced 40 sculptures of Buddha statues made of stone, bronze, wood and ceramics, 30 Buddhist objects, clothes made of precious materials, and Buddhist scriptures carved on marble.
The VBS’s Chapter in the province also designed and hang Buddhist logos on the central road of Hue city and Truong Tien bridge in order to promote Thua Thien Hue province's images. The symbols of dharma wheel, lotus and Buddhist flags were highlighted in decorating stages and posters. Many Buddhist logos by bilingual English – Vietnamese were hang on Le Loi street and Truong Tien bridge was decorated with 60 lotus petals following the colors of Buddhist flag with the message "Buddhism in Thua Thien Hue companies with the nation".
