Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Vice Chairmen of the VBS Executive Committee Thích Niệm Thới and Thích Minh Bửu, representatives from Caodai religion, Catholicism, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries and followers from localities.

Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Thanh Ngọc, Vice Chairman of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization Giang Ngọc Trực and Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Vĩnh Thế.

The ceremony took place solemnly and with performances of traditional music of Khmer Buddhist community.

During the event, Most Venerable Thích Minh Bửu read the message of the VBS Patriarch Thích Phổ Tuệ extending best wishes to Vietnam’s Buddhist dignitaries and followers inside and outside the country on the occasion of Vesak Festival 2016.

On this occasion, Superior Nun Vice Chairwoman of the VBS Executive Committee Thích nữ Diệu Nghĩa contributed 150 gift pack for the poor and 100 million VND for organizing the Buddhist event.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Thanh Ngọc extended Vesak greetings to Buddhist dignitaries and followers and called on Buddhist dignitaries and followers to continue promoting national unity, practicing religious activities according to the VBS’s Charter and making practical contributions for the socio-economic development in the locality.
