On August 15, under the national target program 2014, the Library of Can Tho City presented books to Pitu Khôsa Răngsây pagoda.
There were 36 new books classified as “cultural publication for ethnic people” to be added to the bookcase of Pitu Khôsa Răngsây pagoda (Viễn Quang pagoda) located at no 27/18, Mạc Đĩnh Chi street, An Cư ward, Ninh Kiều district, Cần Thơ city.
This pagoda was one of 12 religious establishments having received books and equipments from the City Library’s funding under the national target program 2013.
Most of the books were published in 2014, with several of them published in the IV quarter of 2013, and classified as social-political, historical, cultural, scientific-technological, literal-artistic and children’s books categories. All of the books are 100% new copies, and published and circulated in conformity with the Publication Law.
It’s said that Pitu Khôsa Răngsây has been supporting Khmer Buddhist students living and studying in the pagoda. Therefore, the inclusion of a bookcase in the pagoda directly supports students to enhance knowledge during their time at universities.
In addition, from the fund of 70 million VND, the library in 7 districts of Cái Răng, Ô Môn, Thốt Nốt, Phong Điền, Thới Lai, Cờ Đỏ và Vĩnh Thạnh have also received book copies. The number of books distributed is 1,090 copies under 84 titles, including 306 copies presented to district libraries and 784 copies granted to libraries in communes and wards.
