On September 7th, a ceremony was held to inaugurate Truc Lam Thanh Nguyen Zen Monastery in Tam Lap commune, Phu Giao district, Binh Duong province.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, Standing Vice President of the Executive Council cum General Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Mr. Bùi Thanh Hà, Vice-Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, representatives from local authorities, Truc Lam Buddhist Zen monks, nuns and followers inside and outside the locality.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, and in his speak at the opening ceremony Most Venerable Thích Nhật Quang informed that Truc Lam Thanh Nguyen Zen monastery was built on a land at Hamlet 7, Tam Lap commune, Phu Giao district, Binh Duong province dedicated to Most Venerable Thích Thanh Từ, founder of Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect by Buddhist Từ Van’s family with their wishes to be establish a new Zen monastery. In 2013, together with approval of Binh Duong province People’s Committee and support of the provincial Executive Committee of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Truc Lam Thanh Nguyen establishment was officially recognized as a Zen monastery.
