The council of religious chiefs of Bani Islamic community in Ninh Thuan province opened Suk-yeng Festival 2017 on February 3 in Bani Thanh Tin temple and will close it on March 17 in Bani Tuan Tu temple.
This festival is traditionally held every three years and in the lunar year with an extra month, with celebrations in turn taking place on Friday at seven Bani temples in the province
Suk-yeng festival is the time for exchanges and discussion of communal issues, contributing to promote unity in the Cham ethnic community. Through this festival, the organization system of the Bani Islamic community is strengthened, traditional customs for wedding, funeral and other communal rites are reviewed and regulated in ways that preserve and promote fine traditions of the community.
During the festival, Bani Muslims often gather in Bani temples to recite religious teachings and pray for peace, happiness and successful crops.
