Main activities of the Nghinh Ong (Whale Worshipping) festival in Binh Thang commune, Binh Dai district, in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre was held on July 28.
These included the whale worshipping and offering rituals, prayers for good luck at sea and better fishing season for local fishermen, as well as art performances and folk games.
The event saw the participation of representatives from the provincial and the district authorities and a large number of people from Binh Dai and other districts in the province.
The Nghinh Ong festival in Binh Dai district was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2016.
