The Vietnam Council of Major Superiors of Religious convened the annual meeting 2017 on November 13-16 at the Saint Martin Monastery under the Vietnam Dominique Congregation located in Dong Nai province’s Bien Hoa city.
The opening ceremony held on November 14 saw the participation of Bishop of Xuan Loc diocese Joseph Đinh Đức Đạo, Priest General Provincial of Salesians of Don Bosco of Vietnam cum President of the Vietnam Council of Major Superiors of Religious Nguyễn Văn Quang, and large numbers of clergymen and clergywomen who are provincial superiors of 150 Catholic congregations and orders in Vietnam.
Guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Dương Ngọc Tấn and Vice Chairman of Dong Nai provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Đình Kiên.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman Dương Ngọc Tấn called on the council of provincial superiors to promote its bridging role to Catholic orders and local authorities in Vietnam, and proactively take part in social, charitable programs and movements in the country.
