An Giang province: Solemn ceremony marks 95th birthday anniversary of Hoa Hao Buddhism’s founder

A solemn ceremony to mark 96th birthday of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church’s founder Huỳnh Phú Sổ was held in An Hoa Tu temple in the southern province of An Giang on January 4.
Attending the ceremony organized by the central Executive Committee of Hoa Hao Buddhist Church included representatives from central and local agencies, and a large number of Hoa Hao Buddhists in and outside An Giang province.
At the ceremony, while extending greetings and congratulation to deacons and followers of Hoa Hao Buddhism on the occasion of 96th birthday of the Church’s founder Huỳnh Phú Sổ, Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Tấn Hùng highly praised practical contributions by followers of Hoa Hao Buddhism over the past year. He also encouraged Hoa Hao Buddhist followers to uphold fine traditions for improving people’s life and promoting development and prosperity in the country..
In 2015, Hoa Hao Buddhists contributed 135 VND billion to social and charitable activities, contributing to the socio-economic development in the country.
On this occasion, Chairman of the central Executive Committee of Hoa Hoa Buddhist Church Nguyễn Tấn Đạt received the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit; Vice Chairmen Nguyễn Huy Diễm and Bùi Văn Đương were presented with the certificate of merit from Minister of Home Affairs. An Giang provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to four individuals, and six individuals were honored by the central Executive Committee of Hoa Hao Buddhist Church for their outstanding achievements in Hoa Hao Buddhist affairs.
