On April 2, Long Xuyen town Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Board in An Giang province held the general congress for 2016 – 2021 tenure.
This is the pilot Buddhist congress for the term 2016 – 2021 held in the province.
According to the congress report, the Buddhism in the town currently has 24 monasteries, 76 monks and nuns and thousands of Buddhists. During the past five years, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the town have conducted charity activities with the total of over 12 billion VND.
The one-day congress chose 13 members of the new-term VBS Executive Board for 2016 – 2021 tenure.
