An ancient stone statue at Hoàng Mười Temple discovered

An ancient stone statue, of a martial figure with 1.5m high was discovered 1.4 m below ground in Main Temple (Đền Cả), also known as Hoàng Mười Temple.

On July 26th, Mr. Hồ Bách Khoa, Head of Management Board of the Nguyễn Du national relics (Ha Tinh) said during the clearing of Main Temple ground, people discovered an intact stone statue. The statue was made of green stone and buried 1.4 m underground.

According to results of an initial survey, this is the statue of a martial figure with 1.5m high located on front of Main Temple’s gate.

The ancient statue still remains intact

Main Temple or Hoàng Mười Temple was built in 1060 under Lý dynasty with a massive architectural scale. During resistance wars against France and America, Main Temple was badly ruined.

The discovered ancient statue will be of important values in the process of surveying and reconstructing Main Temple.
