Activities mark VBS’s 35th founding anniversary

On occasion of the upcoming Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s 35th founding anniversary, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Cultural Affairs Committee and Ceremonial Committee held on July 2 an opening ceremony for series of events in Thanh Tri district’s Yen Phu pagoda.  

Attending the opening ceremony were Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, dignitaries from the VBS Executive Council, VBS Cultural Committee, VBS Ceremonial Committee, and a large number of Buddhist followers and local people.

Chief Executive Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Bùi Thanh Hà and representatives from central and local agencies also join the event.

As reported at the ceremony, events to be held for celebrating the VBS’s founding anniversary will include the welcome of the Jade Buddha for universal peace, an exhibition on relics of the Buddha and distinguished monks, a photo exhibition on achievements of the VBS and the seminar “Buddhist culture of Vietnam – unity and diversity”.

On this occasion, the VBS also presented certificates of merit to members of the VBS Cultural Committee and Ceremonial Committee for their outstanding contributions to the VBS development in the 2012-2017 period.
