The 10th delegation of 226 participants has visited the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands of Vietnam.

A memorial service for soldiers who protecting the country's sovereignty over sea and islands

The delegation included 36 delegates from central and local presses and television agencies, 39 delegates from the central Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and the VBS in provinces of Ninh Binh and Ha Nam, and representatives from authorities of Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Lai Chau and Nghe An province’s Yen Thanh district, etc

In the islands, the delegation had exchanges with islanders and forces on duty on the islands, surveyed several pagodas and inaugurated three pagodas in Sinh Ton Dong, Truong Sa Dong and Da Tay A islands built with financial supports by Xuan Truong construction enterprise and lay Buddhists.

The delegation also held a memorial service for soldiers who sacrificed for the country's sovereignty over sea and islands, offered incense to heroic martyrs and President Ho Chi Minh and visited pagodas in the islands.

On the occasion, the delegation presented gifts worth over 1.9 billion VND to soldiers and islands of Truong Sa district, including 257 boxes of daily necessaries, 18 pumps, 21 bicycles, 56 electric fans, two steam fans, two loudspeakers, 10 computers and printers, two laptops, 21 televisions, 17 barber sets, 30 portable speakers, 2,700 Covid-19 tests, 18,000 medical masks, 50 bed mattresses and cultural publications, etc.

As reported, the provincial VBS’ executive committee in Khanh Hoa province in 2012 – 2017 tenure and 2017-2022 tenure has appointed nine Buddhist dignitaries as abbots of pagodas in Truong Sa islands.
