The Hoa Hao Buddhism’s Central Executive Committee solemnly convened on December 18-19 the 6th national congress in An Hoa temple located in Phu Tan district’s Phu My town of An Giang province.

The event saw the presence of Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Hoài Bắc, representatives of provincial authorities in An Giang and in 22 provinces and cities where Hoa Hao Buddhism have been operating, religious dignitaries of several other religious organizations, and nearly 890 Hoa Hao Buddhist delegates.
On occasion, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ministry Vũ Chiến Thắng has sent a floral basket to the national congress.

The 6th national congress of Hoa Hao Buddhism has reviewed outstanding religious affairs by Hoa Hao Buddhists over the past five years and mapped working plans for the next term (2024-2029) which consistently adhere to the direction “For Dharma – For Nation”. The event also nominated 25 official members and five alternative members to the central executive committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhism, with Rev. Nguyễn Văn Đạt reselected as the chairman of the central executive board for the 2024-2029 tenure.

As reported at the congress, in the 2019-2024 term, the Hoa Hao Buddhism has spent nearly 2,500 billion VND on social charities, including the construction of charitable houses, rural bridges and roads, presentation of support supplies to disadvantaged people, provision of assistance for eye surgeries and free transportation for poor patients, etc.

Speaking at the congress, Chairman Vũ Hoài Bắc highlighted outstanding achievements of the Hoa Hao Buddhism over the past tenure, and asked the central executive committee for the 2024-2029 term to enhance its role and responsibility for implementing the church’s working plan, and promote solidarity with other religions and the whole people, practically contributing for national construction and defense of the country.
