Over 350 Buddhist delegates in Ninh Thuan province have attended the 6th congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in the province convened on April 20-21.
Guests at the event included Most Venerable President of the VBS’s central Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn, Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Ninh Thuan province Thích Thiện Pháp, Buddhist dignitaries representing the VBS’s Executive Committee in neighboring provinces, and representatives of local authorities.
The congress selected 57 delegates to the executive committee of the VBS chapter in the province for the 6th tenure (2017-2022) with Senior Venerable Thích Hạnh Thể chosen as the new committee chairman.
According to the report on results of social, religious activities in the 5th term (2012-2017), Buddhist followers in the province have contributed over VND 40 billion in social charities in the locality over the past five years./.
