691st death anniversary of Phap Loa Zen Master held in Quang Ninh

The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s in Quang Ninh province held on April 13 the 691st death anniversary of Phap Loa Zen Master, the second patriarch of Truc Lam Zen Buddhism.  

The event taking place at Truc Lam Palace of the Yen Tu Complex of Monuments and Landscapes located in Quang Ninh province’s Uong Bi city saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Thanh Quyết, Vice President of the VBS central Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS executive committee in the province, Vice President of the Vietnam Central Fatherland Front Committee Ngô Sách Thực, Head of Central Vietnam Red Cross Association Nguyễn Thị Xuân Thu, Secretary of Uong Bi municipal Party’s Committee Nghiêm Xuân Cường,  representatives from National Institute of Hematology & Blood Transfusion, and large numbers of dignitaries, lay Buddhists, and locals and visitors.

As reported at the event, Phap Loa Zen Master was born in 1284 and died in 1330, was the second patriarch of Truc Lam Zen Buddhism. In his 26 year of Buddhist practice, Zen Master Pháp Loa has inherited and promoted Truc Lam Zen Buddhism which was founded by King Zen Master Trần Nhân Tông, and made important contributions to propagate Buddhist Dharma and develop Truc Lam Zen Buddhism in Vietnam.

On this occasion, the VBS executive committee also organized a program for blood donation and trees planting.

During the event, 500 monks, nuns, lay Buddhists and people participated in blood blood, and Buddhist dignitaries and representatives of central and local authorities also planted more than 1,000 trees.

Most Venerable Thích Thanh Quyết, monks, nuns, and lay Buddhists participate in blood donation program

It is known that the VBS executive committee in the province in collaboration with Tung Lam Development Joint Stock Company has planted more than 10,000 trees at the Yen Tu Complex of Monuments and Landscapes since the beginning of this year and expected to plant a total of 50,000 trees in 2021.
