36th general congress of Vietnamese Evangelical Church (North) held in Nam Dinh

The Vietnam Evangelical Church (Northern) convened its 36th general congress (2022-2026) at Hoanh Nhi Church located in Giao Ha commune of Nam Dinh province’s Giao Thuy district on April 27-28.

At the event

The event themed “To live with faith” saw the presence of Pastor Nguyễn Hữu Mạc, Head of the evangelical church and over 550 members of the evangelical church from 29 provinces and cities in the country.

Guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Tiến Trọng and Pastor Phan Vĩnh Cự, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Evangelical Church (South).

The 36th general congress of the evangelical church aimed to review its operation results in the 35th term (2017-2021), and map out key affairs for the 36th term, as well as discuss the amendment of the church's charter and elect a new central executive board for the 2022-2026 tenure.

Speaking at the event, while extending congratulations to pastors and members of the evangelical church on occasion of its 36th general congress, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Tiến Trọng highlighted practical contributions of the evangelical church’s leaders and members to the Covid-19 prevention work and socio-economic development movements in the country over the last five years, and expressed hope that the evangelical church would continue promoting fine traditions and playing an proactive role in fostering social unity in the country.

The Vietnam Evangelical Church (North) currently has 42 chapter churches and more than 800 congregations with over 200,000 members.
