200 tons of fish released into river by Buddhists in Tien Giang

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s (VBS) Executive Committee in Tien Giang province held on May 15 the 2nd fish-releasing ceremony at My Tho city’s Lac Hong park.  

Attending the ceremony were Senior Venerable Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Quảng Lộc, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries, monks and nuns and followers in the locality.

Head of the Fisheries Division under the provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Department Nguyễn Trọng Tuy and representatives of concerning municipal authorities in My Tho city also joint Buddhists at the event.

During the ceremony, the provincial Buddhist Sangha released 200 tons of freshwater fish into Tien River.

As reported, the fish release was part of the agreement between the provincial agriculture and rural development department and the provincial Buddhist Sangha’s executive committee on occasion of the UN Vesak Day 2019 held in Ha Nam province.
