The traditional festival marking the 151st Death Anniversary of Hero Nguyễn Trung Trực took place from September 24-27 in Kien Giang province’s Rach Gia city.
Main activities of the this year festival, including a procession, offering and worshipping rituals, an art performance and a photo exhibition took place at Nguyen Trung Truc temple and Nguyen Trung Truc Park.
During the festival, thousands of visitors and locals came to the Hero Nguyễn Trung Trực monument, cenotaph and historical site for paying respect and gratitude to the Hero.
Nguyễn Trung Trực (1839-1868) is well-known for two great military victories against French forces, including the burning of the Esperanza warship on December 10, 1861 and the attack of Rach Gia post on June 16, 1868. He also is remembered for his famous quote “Only when all the grass in Vietnam has been pulled out then only will there be no Vietnamese person to fight the aggressors.”
