The Sub-committee for Buddhist Youth under the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Buddhist Guidance Committee will hold the 11th training camp for Buddhist youth from July 28-30 in Can Tho city.
The three-day training camp themed “Love in Western region” will take place at Phuong Nam Zen Monastery located in the city’s Phong Dien district and expects to draw about 1200 Buddhist youth from 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta region of Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, An Giang, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau.
According to the organizational board, this year’s training camp will feature a wide variety of activities including learning of Buddhist teachings, candle-lit prayer, campfire, games, singing contest, meditation and hometown market, etc. The Buddhist camp will also be a great opportunity for young Buddhists from the 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta area to exchange knowledge and experiences.
The camp aims to create a healthy playground for students and pupils in the summer, and encourage young Buddhists to promote Buddhist social values, including the loyalty to homeland, gratitude to ancestors and parents, and social responsibility, especially in social charity and environmental protection.
