The representative committee of Hoa Hao Buddhism in Ben Tre province held on January 7 a solemn ceremony to celebrate the 101st birth anniversary of Hoa Hao Buddhism’s founder – Huỳnh Phú Sổ.
Attending the event included Chairman of the provincial Representative Committee of Hoa Hao Buddhist Church Nguyễn Thanh Tùng, Vice Chairmen of the provincial Representative Committee of Hoa Hao Buddhist Church Huỳnh Văn Hát and Võ Văn Tiến, representatives of the Hoa Hao Buddhist’s executive boards in Cho Lach district and about 100 members of the Church.
Guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Phạm Ngọc Thành and representatives of Ben Tre provincial authorities.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Phạm Ngọc Thành extended congratulatory greetings to the Hoa Hao representative committee and followers of Hoa Hao Buddhist Church in Ben Tre province. He expressed hope that the representative committee and Hoa Hao Buddhists in the province would continue well performing religious practices and raising their sense of responsibility on the Covid-19 prevention work. He also urged them to actively participate in charitable activities and social movements launched by local authorities, including supports fresh water for local residents affected by drought and saltwater intrusion in the coming time.
According to the reviewing report, the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church in Ben Tre province spent nearly 8 billion VND on social charities in 2020.
