100th anniversary of Protestantism in Hai Phong city

Churches under the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) in Vietnam’s Northern city of Hai Phong held a solemn ceremony on October 28 to celebrate 100th anniversary of Protestantism in the city (1915-2015).

Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Vietnamese Protestant group in US, the international and Korea Protestant communities in Hanoi, Protestant Churches in Vietnam, and nearly 1,000 Protestant followers inside and outside the locality.

Distinguished guest at the ceremony included Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyễn Xuân Bình, Acting Director of Protestant Affairs Department under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Thiều Thị Hương.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Xuân Bình extended best wishes to Protestant dignitaries and followers of the ECVN (North), and acknowledged practical contributions made by the Protestant Churches in the past 100 years. He expressed hope that the Protestant Churches in Hai Phong city would continue “Living the Gospel, Worshipping God, Serving the Fatherland and the Nation”.

During the ceremony, Pastor First-Vice President of the ECVN  (North) Bùi Văn Sản took the chance to thank state authorities for their support and favorable conditions extended to the ECVN (North) in general and in Protestant Churches in Hai Phong city in particularly.
